Funeral Services were conducted Thursday, Jan. 8th, at the Malad First LDS Ward by Bishop G. Howard Neal for Joseph W. Hess, 71, who died Jan. 11th.
Funeral services are being held today (Thursday) at the Malad LDS First Ward chapel for Joseph W. Hess, 71, who died Sunday after an extended illness.
Mr. Hess was born Dec. 10, 1887, in Farmington, Utah, a son of Joseph L. and Mary Alice Udy Hess. He married Easter Jones on April 2, 1913, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They came to Malad in 1917.
Mr. Hess was a building contractor and lumber yard operator. He was a member of the Malad Chamber of Commerce and Malad Lions Club. A member of the LDS Church, he served a mission to the Southern States.
Surviving are his widow, five sons and a daughter, Marion J., Richard J., Melvin J., Orval J., Earl J. Hess and Mrs. Alice Landon, all of Malad.
11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three brothers and a sister, Merle Hess, Garland, Ut.; Ervin Hess, Plymouth, Utah; Loyal Hess, Malad; Mrs. Harry Bruce, Oakland, Calif.
Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery directed by the Benson funeral Home.
