FORMER MALAD RESIDENT DIES AT OGDEN
Ogden – Ephriam Thorpe Hawkins of Ogden died Sunday at his home of a heart attack.
Mr. Hawkins was a member of the LDS Second Ward and an elder in the Weber Stake.
He was born Jan. 8, 1883 in Samaria, a son of Joseph and Emma Thorpe Hawkins. He was a retired farmer of Malad, coming to Ogden 14 years ago.
On December 14, 1906, he married Rachel Griffiths in the LDS Logan Temple. She died Sept. 18, 1932. On Aug. 11, 1950, he married Ann M. Bailey.
Surviving are his widow, Ogden; four sons and four daughters, Ephraim G. and Joseph R. Hawkins, Malad Idaho; William G. Hawkins, Elko, Nev.; Farrell Hawkins, Murray; Mrs. Vaughn (Edna) Leavitt, Bunkersville, Nev.; Mrs. Thela H. Burrows, Mrs. Roger (Rhea) Holmes, Torrance, Calif.; Mrs. Dennis (Edith) Rainwater, Browley, Calif.; 20 children, one half sister, Mrs. Mabel Hansen, Fielding.
Funeral services were held in Ogden Wednesday. Burial was in the Malad Cemetery.
Bishop Leo Peterson presided at the services which included prayer, Bert Martin; obituary, Bishop Peterson; song, Ray Wilde; talk, T.R. Johnson; song, Bruce Wallace; talk, Bishop Vern Bailey; song, Bruce Wallace; prayer, Roy O. Daniels. Prelude and postlude music was played by Dorothy West and Thos. Burrows dedicated the grave.
