Thomas (Tom) G. Hawkins, 61 of Malad, Idaho, husband of Sheila Williams Hawkins, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2010 at his home following a long illness.
Thomas Griffiths Hawkins was born of January 2, 1949 to Joseph Richard and Thelma Burrows Hawkins in Malad, Idaho. He was the youngest of five children. Tom spent most of his life in the Malad valley and at the Hawkins homestead in Daniels, Idaho.
He married Sheila Kay Williams on March 8, 1968. They were married 42 years. Tom was the beloved father of two children, Joseph Richard and Amy Kathleen Hawkins.
Tom attended College of Southern Idaho for two years before returning to Daniels to run the family farm. He also worked at Treasure Custom Packing as a butcher for Bob Treasure and drove truck for Hess Pumice.
Tom truly loved being outdoor, especially at the ranch. He loved four-wheeling and snowmobiling with family and friends and puttering in the shed at home. The most recent highlight of his life was become a grandpa to his granddaughter, Claire.
Tom was a member of the LDS Church.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sheila W. Hawkins; his daughter, Amy Hawkins, Ogden, Utah; and his son, Joe Hawkins, daughter-in-law, Angela Briggs Hawkins and grandchild, Claire Virginia Hawkins of Bountiful, Utah. He is also survived by his two sisters, Audrey Patterson, Malad, Idaho; and Thelma Ann Evans, American Falls, Idaho.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dale Hawkins and Joe Hawkins.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 20 at the Malad LDS Stake Chapel.’
There will be another celebration of life for Tom at a later date at the Hawkins Ranch.
