GLEED, HENRY, SR.,
Funeral services for Henry Gleed, Sr., age 77, who died Friday at the Oneida Hospital, were held at the Malad Stake building with Counselor Royal B. Jensen officiating. The family prayer at the home was by Jess Hughes. Ruth Davis played prelude and postlude music. The invocation was by Rex Jensen and the benediction by Lloyd Sorensen. Speakers were Dr. Thomas W. Richards and Pres. Moyle Facer. Musical numbers were vocal duets by Leora Brown and Iris Barker and by June Ward and Robbie Raymond, and a vocal solo by Jenkin L. Palmer. The obituary and an original poem was given by Mr. Gleed’s granddaughter, Emma Jean Napier.
At the Malad cemetery, the dedicatory prayer was by Bishop Colen Sweeten, Jr. Flowers were carried by granddaughters supervised by the Third and Fourth Ward Relief Society. Casket bearers were his grandsons.
Mr. Gleed was born January 1, 1882 at Malad, a son of John Edward and Rose Clark Gleed. He married Emma Thorpe August 29, 1905 at Malad. She died in 1934. He was a farmer and a member of the LDS Church.
Surviving are three sons and six daughters: Hubert S., Henry, Jr., J. Clifford, Mrs. Wayne (Edith) Archibald, Mrs. Carol Hall, Mrs. Alvin (Vera) Smith, Mrs. Frank (Annabell) Williams, Malad; Mrs. Arden (Emma) Denny, Sunset, UT; Leola Gleed, Salt Lake City; 37 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters: William Gleed, Logan; Edwin Gleed, Warden, UT; Mrs. Henry (Annie) Jensen, Ashland, OR; Mrs. Chris (Rose) Larsen, Brigham City.
