GUTHRIE, JOSEPH HARVEY
Joseph Harvey (Joe) Guthrie, 16, died September 14, 1984 in a single car accident on the old Fish Creek Road, east of Lava Hot Springs.
He was born to Alfred Wesley and Annette Barron Guthrie on September 3, 1968 and had spent his entire life in Lava Hot Springs. At the time of his death, he was a junior at Marsh Valley High School.
He had worked for the city of Lava Hot Springs for the last two summers. He was a member of the LDS Church and had played church basketball. He had been a member of the Marsh Valley Golf Club and had been active in scouting. Hobbies included outdoor activities such as camping, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his parents of lava Hot Springs; four brothers, Alvin W. Guthrie, Pocatello; Alfred W. Guthrie, Jr., McCammon; Mike and Richard Guthrie, both of Showlow, AZ; a sister, Mrs. Gene (Marilyn) Kingston, Rexburg; grandparents, Lillian Gerber, McCammon; Alvin I. Guthrie, San Diego, CA and Maren Barron, Inkom. He was preceded in death by a sister, two grandfathers and a niece.
Funeral services were held at the Lava Hot Springs LS Ward Chapel on September 18. Bishop Maynard Mangelson officiated at the service. Burial was in the Norton Cemetery at McCammon.
