Pearl Blanch Briggs

Pearl Blanch Briggs, 89, passed away October 9, 2002 at a local long term care center. She was born February 17, 1913 in Malad, ID to David Asbery and Ella Minnie Thomas South.

Pearl was raised and educated in Malad, graduating from Malad High School in 1931. She worked as an usher in the Iris Movie Theatre and met her future husband while working there.

She married Edwin Briggs on August 28, 1933 in Ogden, UT. They had their marriage solemnized December 10, 1966 in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Her life’s focus was taking care of home and family. She was a very hard worker. Pearl enjoyed 67 years of marriage with her husband who passed away August 13, 2000.

She was a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints attending the Fifth Ward.

Pearl enjoyed crocheting, cooking, her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children: Charlottie (Ray) Haylicak, McCall, ID; Barbara (Lee) Young, American Falls, ID; Ed (Tena) Briggs, Pocatello, ID; nine grandchildren: Charla Harris, Greg Young, Mark Havlicak, Teresa Workman, Sharon Havlicak, Sandra Vanderploeg, Buck Briggs, Brandy Whiteside and Bart Briggs; 27 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister and brother.

Funeral services were held October 14, 2002 at the Cedar First Ward with Bishop John B. Coray officiating. Burial followed at Mountainview Cemetery.
