Nephi Ruel Ipsen

Counselor Parry Ipsen of the Pleasantview LDS ware is conducting funeral services there today for Nephi Ruel Ipsen, age 67, who died at his home in Pleasantview at 5 p.m. Monday of a sudden heart attack.
Mr. Ipsen was born at Brigham City Nov. ’26, 1893, a son of Nephi Peter and Margaret Wight Ipsen, and moved to Pleasantview with his parents when about six years of age. He was reared and educated there, and in Malad schools. He served a mission for the LDS church in the Central states from Oct. 28, 1914, to March 29, 1917. He entered the US Army in August of 1918 and received his discharge in February of 1919. He was a prominent j farmer and stockman.
An active civic worker, he served for 22 years on the Oneida Soil Conservation District board, and was honored by the state of Idaho for his long service; served as chairman of the Samaria Irrigation Company from 1957 to 1961, and was a school trustee at Pleasantview.
Mr. Ipsen was bishop of the Pleasantview ward from January of 1929 to August of 1934; was president of the Pleasantview YMMIA, stake Sunday School and ward chorister; member of Malad stake High Council from. February 1944 to November 1953; counselor in stake High Priests Quorum presidency in, 1957, and served as stake missionary from November 1953 to September 1956.
Mr. Ipsen married Ada Hughes 1 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on Feb. 2, 1921. She survives him. Also surviving are two sons | and four daughters: Grant Ipsen, Boise; Foster Ipsen, Mrs. Leo (Leora) Brown, Mrs. Ray (Iris) Barker, Malad; Mrs. Don (Carol) Eliason, Holbrook; Mrs. Jack (Florence) Bowman, Idaho Falls; 19 grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, Lester Ipsen, Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. J. M. (Jetta) Isaacson, Malad; Mrs. . Stanley (Ella) Gilbert, Corinne, Utah. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lyman, who died in August 1960, and Lewis, in May 1961; and a grandchild, in April 1961.
