Parry Ipsen[ 51, died Wednesday in SLC
Parry Ipsen, age 51, Pleasantview, died Wednesday at 11:20 p.m. in a Salt Lake City Hospital of a stroke.
Mr. Ipsen was born Oct. 3, 1922, at Malad, a son of Lyman James and Mary Ann Parry Ipsen.
He married Velma Roderick Jan. 14, 1942, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Mr. Ipsen was a graduate of Malad High School. He had been active in the LDS Church, serving in Pleasantview bishopric, as president of the Elders’ Quorum, Sunday school teacher, home teacher, and at the time of his death, as Sunday school president.
Active in cattlemen’s organizations, he served as director of Idaho State Cattlemen’s Association for three years, was past president of Pleasantview Cattlemen’s Association, and was land use committeeman for American National Cattlemen’s Association. He had served as member of Oneida Fair Board, of Malad Valley Irrigation Company board, and of Oneida County Hospital board. He had also been a member of Malad Valley Posse. He was associated with his brother, Lyman, and Joe Ward, in Cache Valley Livestock Auction, Preston.
Surviving are his widow; three sons and seven daughters, Mark, Malad; Lyman Jeffrey, Bruce, Susan, all Pleasantview; Mrs. David (Mary Lynn) Ward, Mrs. Greg (Kathryn) Doster, Blackfoot; Mrs. Bob (Anita) Hunter, Salt Lake; Mrs. Mike (Janice) Hughes, Big Piney, Wyo.; Mrs. Brent (Brenda) Coombs, Orem, Utah; Karen, Provo; mother, Pleasantview; 17 grandchildren; a brother, Lyman, Jr., Pleasantview.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at 12 noon in Malad LDS Stake Chapel with Bishop Merlin Bastian officiating. Speakers were Bishop Bastian, who read the obituary; Bishop Roger Facer and Bishop John Roderick. Family prayer was offered by Bishop Michael Hughes; invocation, Bishop Clifford McMurdie; and benediction, Nolan Blaisdell. Special music included vocal solo, Stanley Palmer; duet, Foster Ipsen and Leora Brown; quartet, Don and Carol Eliason, Wells and Marsha Willie. Accompanists were Janice Palmer, Iris Blaisdell, and Iris Hill. Prelude and postlude music was played by Patsy Bybee.
At Pleasantview Cemetery, dedicatory prayer was offered by Khalil Scott.
Pleasantview Relief Society, Iris Blaisdell, president, carried the flowers.
Serving as honorary bearers were members of Malad LDS Stake High Priest Quorum.
Casket bearers were Joe Ward, Leo Brown, Tom Parry, DeVere Ilium, LaVen Williams, Carl Willie, Ralph Davis, and Russell LeFevre.
Benson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
