Judy Kay Scothern Mifflin

NORTH OGDEN – Judy Kay Scothern Mifflin, beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 1998, surrounded by her loving family, due to complications of lymphoma.

Judy was born in Trremonton, Utah, on August 12, 1941, a daughter of Oliver Charles and Louania Jackman Scothern. She married Morgan K Mifflin on January 26, 1962 in Tremonton. Their Marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on December 10, 1964. She graduated from Bear River High School, LDS Seminary, and received a degree in nursing from Weber State College in 1961. She was a member of the Pleasant View 2nd Ward, and had served in many positions throughout her life.

Judy was a caring, dedicated Registered Nurse and had worked at McKay-Dee Hospital, Ogden Care Center North, Washington Terrace Nursing Center, and the Wasatch Care Center. Judy loved her family and cared for her beloved parents until their deaths. She enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing, crocheting, and knitting. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her devoted husband Morgan; one daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Michael Smith, Harrisville, three brothers, Robert and Diane Scothern, West Jordan; Richard and Marcella Scothern, Cottonwood; and Michael and Roxanne Scothern, Hyrum; brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Jean Davis, Bart and Barbara Mifflin, and Max and Kaye Miffilin; many nieces and nephews and their families, and her adoring grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, and Carson. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family wishes to thank the North View Fire Department and Paramedics for their help, the caring staff at McKay-Dee Hospital and all the friends in the Pleasant View 2nd Ward who loved and cared for Judy during her fight with cancer, and in her final days.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 16, 1998 at the Pleasant View 2nd Ward, 250 W. Elberta Dr., with Bishop Terry Jones officiating. Friends and family may call at the Larkin and Sons Mortuary in Ogden, Sunday, November 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. and at the ward on Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
