David Rollie Jones

OGDEN – David Rollie Jones, 74 died Wednesday, August 26, 1998 in Ogden from complications of diabetes.

He was born April 27, 1924 in Malad, Idaho, a son of Rollie Thomas and Annella Thomas Jones.

On September 22, 1949, David married Shirley Louise Anderson in Ogden.

He was raised and educated in Malad, Idaho and had lived in the Ogden area since 1949. He as a member of the Ogden 71st LDS Ward.

D.R. had been employed as a meat cutter for most of his life. He had also worked at Defense Depot as a warehouseman retiring in 1987.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II receiving the Silver Star for Gallantry in Action. He also served in the Korean Conflict.

D.R. loved his home, family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed traveling to Wendover and watching sports. He loved people , had a big heart and enjoyed life to its fullest. D.R. was a member of the American Legion #65 in Malad, Idaho and also the Ogden Eagles and Elks Lodges.

Surviving are his wife of Ogden; one son and three daughters, David M. (Vicki) Jones, Mtn. Green; Kathleen Thorstensen, North Ogden; Debra (Craig) Sorensen, West Point; Shirley Kirshaw, Riverdale; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

D.R. is also survived by three brothers, Lyle Jones, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Gary Jones, Salt Lake City; Barton Jones, Layton.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 10:45.

Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park where Military Honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army National Guard.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
