Erma Barnes Cherry

SALT LAKE CITY – Erma Barnes Cherry, 78, passed away July 28, 2003 in Salt lake City, UT following heart surgery.

She was an only child born to Charles R. and Jannett Barnes on September 1, 1924 in Downey, ID. She attended and graduated from school in Downey.

She married Rawls Brooks Cherry on may 11, 1942 in Malad, ID. During their years of marriage they moved around frequently as Rawls was serving in the air Force for three years.

After the war, they were blessed with three children, two sons, Doug and Dennis, and a daughter, Jeanette, Erma and Rawls later divorced. Her children were her life as were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was survived by her three children, two sons, Doug Cherry, Dennis Cherry (Karen), of Pocatello; and a daughter, Jeanette Frey (Barney) of Chubbuck, ID; ten grandchildren, Doug Cherry, Jr., Nichole Cherry (Mike), Kimi martin (Mark), Brandt Cherry, Juston Cherry (Brandi) Kimberly Frey (Chase), Amanda Frey, Dee Brown (Tina), Todd Strong, Gary Strong (Lacy); eleven great grandchildren, Devon and Jennifer Westbrook, Skyler and Kaden martin, Dylan Cherry, NaKona and Trentin Brown, Sara Boren, Taylor and Joshua Strong and 3 week old Gavin Books Cole.

Erma was the most caring, loving person you could ever meet. She would never put her needs in front of anyone else’s. The only reason her heart gave out is because she gave it all away to anybody and everybody that ever needed love.

Funeral services will be held August 2, 2003 in the Holman LDS Ward Chapel. Arrangements are by Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home, Arimo.
