Worren Dee Nelson
November 6, 1962 – February 5, 2022
Worren (Wardog) Dee Nelson returned to his Father in Heaven on February 5, 2022 at his home in West Haven, Utah.
Worren was born in Tooele, Utah on November 6, 1962 to Gloria Mae Nelson and Franklin Dee Nelson. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in Midvale, Utah (1981). Worren played football in school and was a proud recipient of the Boy Scouts of America Eagle rank . After graduating high school, he served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Santiago, Chile (Chee-Lay, as he adamantly corrected). He married Julie Evans in 1986 and had four children.
Worren loved working with his hands and creating things for others to enjoy. He enjoyed taxidermy, and for a while worked as a taxidermist full time. He was skilled with carpentry and founded a cabinet/countertop business with a friend for several years. His close family and friends could expect homemade fudge from him in as many flavors as you could imagine, some intriguing and interesting.
Fishing and hunting were his passions from a young age. He would tell stories of hunting and fishing shenanigans from his childhood and young adult life. His children can all tell you of the many hunting and fishing trips they would go on with him. One of the stories he would brag about is when he got his once in a lifetime Idaho moose. He drew for the tag on his first try and harvested a bull in velvet. He was excellent at calling moose close to him with just his hands and his voice.
Worren was a very outgoing and sociable person. He knew many people, and cared about them. He always tried to make you laugh and was known to pull pranks on occasion. He was also an active member of his community and served many roles such as Little league baseball coach and youth football coach. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many callings including Boy Scout Leader, Elder’s Quorum President, and Stake Young Men’s Presidency.
On February 10, 2018, he married his wife Norlyn Anderson Nelson. Later, in June 2019, they were sealed for time and eternity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple in St. George, Utah.
He is survived by his wife, Norlyn A. Nelson; father, Franklin Dee Nelson; siblings, David Nelson, Kurtis Nelson, DeeAnn Robertson, Vicki Nelson, and Jason Nelson; children, Tyler (Jessica) Nelson, Ryan (Hollie) Nelson, Marissa (Paul) Lemons, Hunter Nelson; stepchildren, Cami Anderson, Nichole Anderson; and 12 grandchildren.
