Wilson Newbold Lowe, 23 September 1916

Wilson Newbold Lowe, 79, lifetime Downey area resident, passed away March 28, 1996 at the Bannock Regional Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 23, 1916 in Cambridge to James E. and May Newbold Lowe. He grew up and was educated in Cambridge. He married Rachel Morris March 18, 1938 in Pocatello, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on November 10, 1939. For 30 years he was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad and P.F.E., retiring in 1976. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Downey Second Ward bishopric, in the MIA and as a home teacher. He had also served for 30 years on the Marsh Valley Cemetery board.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel, of Downey; one daughter and her husband, Carol and Robert Bair of Downey; two granddaughters, Mrs. Chris (Carol J.) Hawkins of Downey and Mary Rachel Bair of Downey; two great grandchildren; one brother, James Lowe of Ogden, UT; four sisters, Mrs. Gilbert (Louise) Swartz of Pocatello; Leila Redd of Panaca, NV; Naomi Phillips of Downey; Freeda Nelson of Downey. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be April 1 in the Downey LDS Ward chapel with Bishop Coy Pratt officiating. Burial will be in the Downey City Cemetery.
