Willis A. Barfuss

DOWNEY, Idaho – Willis A. Barfuss of Downey, Idaho, passed away Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at his home.

He was born Feb. 7, 1917, in Downey. He was the son of John A. and May Bowman Barfuss. He married Lorraine (Connie) Hawkes. She passed away in 1982.

Willis married Fay Layton in 1983. He was a member of the LDS Church and served as bishop, counselor, and ward clerk, and was presently the Sunday School president. He was also presently serving as a temple officiator in the Logan Temple, where he had served for over 15 years. He loved farming, and purchased his last farm at the age of 80. He had served as mayor of Downey and was a pilot. Survivors are his children, Conolyn (Sheldon) Kendall, Star Valley, Wyo., Barbara (Ron) Bell, Ogden, Utah, Delon Barfuss, Atlanta, Ga., and a stepdaughter, TeAuna (Tom) Newton, Lafayette, Ore.; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
