SUNSET-William Wayne Leigh, age 60, was born July 7, 1934 in Malad City, Idaho, to Bryon J. and Jeanette Wakley Leigh. He died at Davis Hospital on June 21, 1995.
Bill attended schools in Malad and Downey, Idaho and attended Marsh valley high school. He earned his GED and attended Weber State College.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Skagit from 1952 to 1955. He worked as a mechanic for various Ogden companies. He was a service technician for Sears from 1958 until his medical disability in 1987.
Bill married Adda M. “Bunnie” Smith in May of 1952. They were devoted to each other and recently celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary.
He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints. He held the priesthood office of elder and served for many years as pastor of the Ogden congregation. Bill impacted many lives through service to Camp Red Cliff. He was devoted to his family and friends and his God. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Bill’s family wishes to extend thanks to the many doctors, nurses and others who cared for him through his illness. A special thanks is extended to Dr. Tucker, Caillouet, and Olsen. Thanks also to the Sunset officer who responded to our call and gave us time to say our goodbyes.
Bill is survived by his wife, Adda M. “Bunnie” Leigh, four daughters, Sherry (John A.) Hoppe, Layton; Cindy (Perry) Lee, and Sue (Bruce) Lemieux, West Pointe; and Linda Leigh (Christopher Tabish), Sunset. Six grandchildren, Naomi, John B., Deidre, Jerry, Wilie and Jesse. Our soul daughter, Shelia (Tim) Kunzweiler, Rachel and Alex. He is also survived by his sisters Joyce (Robert) Ballard of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Sue (Rich) Lamb of Roberts, Idaho and many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and by the family of friends and neighbors.
It was Bill’s expressed wish not to be viewed, but to be remembered as he was. He wished to be cremated and his remains put in a place he loved.
Memorial services will be held at the RLDS Church, 848 7th St. in Odgen on Sunday, June 25th at 5p.m. Elder Harriet White will officiate at the service. Bill’s family will greet friends at the church from 4p.m. To 5p.m. Prior to the service. The family requests no flowers. Contributions may be made to the American heart Association.
