William O. Howard died Tuesday
William O. Howard, age 69, died Tuesday, April 7th, at a Salt Lake City hospital of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm, Friday, April 10th, in the Malad LDS Second Ward Chapel with Bishop Gordon Crowther officiating.
Mr. Howard was born July 8, 1900 at Bountiful, Utah, a son of William James and Rose Ann Oliver Howard. He received his education in the Bountiful and Malad schools and was a graduate of Malad High School. He married Mildred Jones, Dec. 3, 1924, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He was a farmer, rancher and dairyman.
Active in the LDS Church, Mr. Howard had served as Sunday school superintendent and counselor, president of the Elders, Seventies, and High Priest Quorum; was Stake mission president and worked in the Stake mission for nine years. He was a member of the ward bishopric twice and a ward teacher.
His civic activities included serving on the Oneida County School board, as president of Oneida Rod and Gun Club and as director of the Malad Valley Creamery.
Surviving are his widow; three sons and a daughter, Odell John, riverside, California; William Brent, Malad; Mark James, Austin, Texas; Mrs. Robert L. (Nelda) Black, San Diego; 11 grandchildren; four sister, Mrs. William R. (Ella) Smith, Mrs. George A. (Wilda) Evans, Bountiful; Mrs. Neslen (Lila) Smith, Centerville, Utah; Mrs. Dell C. (Fern) Pullan, Salt Lake City.
