Willard John Andersen

MALAD, Ida. – 92. Willard John Andersen, 89, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 1996, at his home in Pocatello.

Willard was born in Mendon, Utah, July 16, 1907, to John C. and Desena Andersen. He was the oldest of six children. He grew up in Arbon, Idaho, where he completed eight years of education and farmed with his father and family.

He married Mamie E. Haney of Westminister, S.C., in the Salt Lake City Temple Jan. 28, 1931.

Willard farmed in Arbon Valley and was active in the Farm Bureau and the Soil Conservation for many years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served with dedication as a missionary, high councilor, bishop and teacher.

Willard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing baseball as a young man. He loved people and enjoyed traveling.

Willard is survived by his wife, Mamie, his children, Elmo Jack (Karen) Andersen of Idaho Falls, Mrs. Ron (Pasty) Clark, David (Karen) Anderson, , Julia Dee Andersen, all of Pocatello and Lynn (JoAnn) Andersen of Arbon; 26 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ada Bailey (Charles), Clifton; Hazel Terry (Rex), St. George, Utah; brothers, Glen (Roma) Andersen, Vernal, Utah; and Norman (Tanga) Andersen, Oakland, Calif.; sister-in-law, Delores Andersen, Pocatello.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Desena; sister, Alane; brother, Mark; and grandson, Durk Clark.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug., 6, 1996, at 11 a.m. in the Chubbuck Stake Center, 450 James, Chubbuck, with William L. McKee officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave., Pocatello, and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Arbon Valley Cemetery, Arbon.
