Wendy Rufi
December 16, 1953 – July 2, 2024
Wendy Rufi, 70 residing at Rufi Ranch, Downey, Idaho, passed away peacefully July 2, 2024 after a lengthy battle with Pancreatic cancer at which time she wrote her own obituary. So, in her own words:
“I was born on December 16, 1953 in Cedar City, Utah to LoRaine Jones Chamberlain and Lila Stapley Chamberlain. I had a magical childhood, raised with five precious sisters and one bonus sister: Aunt Penny, Debra, Cathy, Kim, and Jodi (better known as the Chamberlain girls).
Shortly after I graduated high school, I married Kevin Rowley and moved to Sandy, Utah. We had three children Shawn, Mandy, and Chance. We divorced in 1987.
I got my dream job in 1994 as Sales Administrative Support at Megahertz which was later acquired by 3COM. I made many lifelong friends and had the time of my life.
In 1998 I met the love of my life, Nathan Rufi, and was blessed with two more children, Jason, and Nichole. In 2001 we married and moved to Malad where we started Rufi Ranch and raised cattle. I became manager of Northern Title Co. in Malad. In 2006 we built a new home in the Downey area and grew our cattle operation.
I loved working on the ranch and took great pride in everything that Nathan and I accomplished. I appreciated the friendship of neighbors Kevin Smith and Barbara Thompson, who were always there to lend a hand. I also loved growing flowers and plants but had a special attachment to my 107 trees and adventures with Granddaughter Kendra.”
Wendy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her precious husband, Nathan Rufi, Beloved children: Shawn Rowley (Zane Latimer) South Jordan, UT, Mandy Jo Broadhead (Kirk) West Valley, UT, Chance Rowley (Nicholl) Pocatello, ID, Stepson Jason Rufi (Hillary) Medford, OR, Stepdaughter Nichole Rufi, Ashland, OR. Five grandchildren: Kayla Svedin, Cameron Svedin, Megan Svedin, Preston Svedin, and Kendra Rowley. Four step grandchildren, Nya and Jasiah Rufi, and Cooper and Piper Rufi, many nieces and nephews and cousins.
“To remember me, live your life to its fullest every day. Don’t wait until retirement, it may be too late. I want no funeral or fancy send off. Just burn my remains and scatter them with Nathans when his time comes at a place of his choosing. Put some of my ashes around my trees so I can go after the gophers. I’ve had a really good life, full of love! What more could anyone ask for!”
