Wayne Leon Barnes

ARIMO — Wayne Leon Barnes, 72, of Hawkins Creek, Arimo, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2001, in the Pocatello Regional Medical Center following a stroke.
He was born March 21, 1929, in Standrod, Idaho, a son of Joseph W. and Isabell Kempton Barnes. He was raised and educated in Standrod, and later served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952, and for a time was stationed in Germany.
He married Lorraine Craythorn June 9, 1959, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.
Wayne worked as a rancher most of his life, and had also worked for Thiokol Corp., for five years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, of Arimo; one son, Cory (Brooke) Barnes of Logan, Utah; two daughters, Lori (Dave) Wise of Springville, Utah, and Alesia (Kevin) Memmott of Payson, Utah; seven grandchildren; one brother, Roland (Florence) Barnes of Standrod, Idaho; a cousin, Marion (Bud) Ward of Almo,
Idaho, who lived with the family from birth. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mabel Stokes and Edith Norton and two daughters, Shirleen and Susan Barnes.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 29, 2001, at noon in the Arimo LDS Stake Chapel. Friends may call at Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home, 570 N. Meadowview Drive, Arimo, on Sunday evening, Oct. 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Monday at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Marsh Center Cemetery, with military rites by the Downey American Legion Post No. 21.
