WANDA THORPE

Wanda Hughes Thorpe, 76, died March 24, 1984 in the Oneida County Hospital of heart failure.

She was born Feb. 14, 1908 in Pleasantview to James R. and Elizabeth Jenkins Hughes. She was reared and educated in Pleasantview and was a graduate of Malad High School.

She married William D. Thorpe June 16, 1930 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple June 2, 1966. He died March 27, 1983.

She had lived her entire life in Pleasantview and Malad. She was a member of the LDS Church, where she had served as a teacher in the MIA and in the Relief Society as a visiting teacher and as work and business leader. She enjoyed doing quilting and handwork.

She is survived by a son, Douglas Delone Thorpe, Malad; two daughters, Mrs. Rex (Gloria) Daniels, Malad; Mrs. Harold (Billie Ann) Christensen, Taylorsville, UT; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ramona Jones, Malad; Mrs. Ephriam (Rachel) Smith, Smithfield, UT and Mrs. Virginia Frisbey, Salt Lake City.

Funeral service will be held in the Pleasantview LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Howard May officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasantview Cemetery.
