Walter Morse Davis (Birth 25 Aug 1896/Death 23 Jul 1978)

Walter Morse Davis, age 81, of Pleasantview, died July 23, 1978 in the St. Anthony Hospital, Pocatello; of injuries suffered in a fall at his home on July 16, 1978.

He was born August 25,1896 at Pleasantview, a son of Thomas Williams and Ann Morse Davis.

He married Marguerite Rider on June 4,1924 in the Logan LDS Temple.

He was a farmer and a rancher, active member of the LDS Church, veteran of World War I, member of Oneida County Farm Bureau, Samaria Water and Irrigation Company, County Fair Board, Trustee of Dist. 35, three year term, member of the Malad Valley Square Dance Club.

Survivors include his widow, Pleasantview; one son and one daughter: W. Tom Davis, Afton, Wyoming; Mrs. Wayne (Ann Marie) Thompson, Jerome; One son, Ralph Davis preceded him in death. Ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral Service

Funeral services were held Thursday at the Malad Stake LDS Chapel. The family prayer was offered by W. Tom Davis at the Benson Funeral Home. The program at the Chapel included: Patsy Bybee, prelude and postlude music; Larry Dives gave the invocation. Pat Davis, granddaughter of Mr. Davis’ gave the obituary and speakers were President Doyle Child and Bishop Melvin Joe Davis.

Remarks were offered by Bishop Merlin Bastian and vocal numbers by Eldon Corbridge, Leora Brown and Foster Ipsen, accompanist, Iris Blaisdell. The benediction was given by Robert E. Williams.

Concluding Rites
At the Pleasantview Cemetery, concluding rites and Military Rites, American Legion Ernest W. Jones, Post No. 65 were held. Wayne J. Thomson gave the dedicatory prayer.

In charge of the flower arrangements were members of the World War I Auxiliary and the Pleasantview Relief Society.

Casket bearers: Keith Hill, Robert Rider, Alan Wilson, Parley Davis, Thomas Errett and Edison Evans.
