MALAD- Victor C. “Bud” Richards, 94, longtime Malad resident, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, in the Oneida County Nursing Home. He was born Dec, 19, 1900, in Malad, a son of Jacob T, and Ruth Chivers Richards, He married Mary (Mae) R. Bell, Dec, 31 in 1923 in Malad. The marriage was later solemnized in the Odgen LDS Temple on Jan. 8, 1988. Mrs. Richards died March 9, 1992. They had been married 68 years. After his marriage, he and his wife lived on a farm south of Malad. During his years of farming, he was a dairyman and raised Hereford cattle. He served on the Malad Forrest Users Corp. for 22 years. His hobbies were fishing and hunting pheasants and ducks. After he retired, he and his wife spent their winters in Arizona.
He is survived by one son and his wife: Lynn and Betty Richards of Soda Springs; and one daughter and her husband: Nulda and Frank Telford of Odgen, Ut. He is also survived by one sister: Jessie Rosemont of San Francisco, Ca.; 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 11, at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. Malad. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 7-8 p.m. And on Friday from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be at the Malad City Cemetery.
