Vernona Roberts Pace

Vernona Roberts Pace passed away January 26, 2020, in West Valley City Utah. Vernona was born on October 25, 1943 to Thomas Vernon and Var C. Jensen Roberts in Malad City Idaho. Vernona married Lynn Alan Pace in March of 1966 in Elko Nevada and they had their son, Jeffery Alan Pace, later that year. Vernona enjoyed going to basketball games with her husband and son. They attended the University of Utah Men’s Basketball games for 38 years; Vernona and Lynn also attended the basketball games that Jeff refereed. Vernona had many passions in life. She loved all kinds of animals, especially Boxer dogs; she enjoyed training them throughout her life. She would always stop to help a dog that was loose in any way she could to return them home. Vernona was very creative. She enjoyed toll painting and sewing quilts; her work was remarkable, the eyes she painted on her pieces looked real. Vernona and her fellow friends went to Las Vegas for 25 years annually to toll paint, she also painted in Utah County at various places with the Original Eight. Vernona liked to work in her garden growing flowers and vegetables. According to her mother, there was not a weed that would survive in front of her. While she was stubborn and ornery, Vernona was the nicest person you could ever meet. She was fiercely loyal and devoted to the people she cared about. She is survived by her son, Jeff Pace, sisters Marlene Bailey and Gayle (Tom) Swan and brother Daryl Roberts. She is preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Var C. Roberts and husband Lynn Pace. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020, from 6:00-8:00 pm and Saturday, February 1, 2020, from 10:00-11:30 am. A luncheon will be provided from 12:00-1:00 pm. The viewing and luncheon will be at the West Point Ward House. 4444 S Early Duke Street, West Valley City Utah. Graveside services will be February 1, 2020, at 3:00 pm at Malad City Cemetery in Malad City, Idaho. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Humane Society of Utah.
