Verna Ann Wakely Stuart, 81, of Idaho Falls and formerly of Downey and Malad died Thursday, August 17, 1995 in the Idaho Falls care center.

She was born September 30, 1913 in Downey, a daughter of John Willard and Cora Barnes Wakley. She grew up and was educated in Downey. On December 19, 1935 she married George Stuart Jr. in Farmington, Utah. For many years Mr. Stuart worked in road construction, and lived in Nevada, Malad, Pocatello, and Idaho Falls. Mr Stuart died March 12, 1976. The past two and half years she had lived in the Idaho Care center. She was a member of the LDS Church, and enjoyed yardwork and gardening.

She is survived by one son and his wife, Verlin and Joy Stuart of Idaho Falls; two daughters and their husbands, Margene and Calvin Criddle of Downey and Dorthy and Barney Lewis of Meridian; nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Wakley of Malad and Arlie Wakley of Lava Hot Springs, Mrs. Tom (Genevieve) Colton of Malad and Melba Toponce of Salt lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one grand-daughter.

Graveside services were held Monday, August 21 at the Malad City Cemetery.
