McCammon, Ida.- Velma Lowry Green, 89, of Boise and a 73 year resident of McCammon, died Monday, August 7, 2000, at Valleyview Retirement Center in Boise.
She was born December 21, 1910, in Sterling, Utah, to Jesse William and Eliza Stutzneggar Lowry. The family moved to McCammon when she was a small child, and she graduated from McCammon High School in 1928.
She married George Newel Green April 19, 1933, in Logan, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti, Utah LDS Temple December 6, 1933. George preceded her in death April 25, 1989.
She attended Ricks College in 1928-1929. She graduated from Idaho State University with a BA in elementary education in 1969. She taught private kindergarten for 10 years, and also in the Marsh Valley school district for 11 years.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in various positions including teacher and counselor in the Primary and Young Women, visiting teacher, president of the Relief Society, and Sunday school teacher. Currently, she was serving as a temple worker in the Boise, Idaho temple.
She is survived by three sons, G. Keith (Lois) Green, Meridian, Jesse C. (Michaela) Green, McCammon; one daughter, Mrs. Harry (Sharon) Stephens, Eagle; a brother, Glen (Elda) V. Lowry, Redding, California; and a sister, LaRue L. Smith, Arimo; and sister-in-law; Beth Lowry, Auke Bay, Alaska; eight grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral Services will be at noon on Thursday, Aug. 10, at the McCammon LDS Stake Chapel. Friends may call tonight, Wednesday, Aug. 9, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Marsh Valley Funeral Home in Arimo, and on Thursday at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Norton Cemetery, McCammon.
