Funeral Monday for Tressa B. Swenson, 66

Bishop Phil Gillies presided at funeral services in Malad Third LDS Ward Chapel Monday for Mrs. Tressa Bailey Swenson, age 66, who died October 24th in an Idaho Falls hospital of natural causes.

Mrs. Swenson was born July 15, 1908, at Arbon, a daughter of James Richard and Annie L. Kerr Bailey. She married Royal O. Swenson July 7, 1927, at American Falls and the marriage was solemnized March 27, 1941, in the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Swenson died May 1, 1974. Mrs. Swenson was educated in Arbon schools. An active member of the LDS Church, she served with her husband in the Rapid City, S.D., mission in 1970 and 1971. For many years, she served as Relief Society secretary.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters, Robert Dean, Sumter, S.C.; Royal Jay, Plano, Texas; Doyal Legrande, Bountiful; Mrs. Don (Janiel) Philips, Idaho Falls, Mrs. John (Twila) Halbom, Perkaise, Pa.; 22 grandchildren; a brother and three sisters, Thomas Kerr Bailey, Moses Lake, Washington; Mrs. C.E. (Mary) Renberg, Mrs. Joseph (Edna) Arbon, Pocatello Mrs. Soren (Merle) Christensen, Malad.

Speakers at the funeral services were Bishop Gillies, Mission President Rex Reeves, Elder Devere Harris and Marilyn Harker who read the obituary. Family prayer was offered by Doyle Swenson; invocation, Leland Bailey, and benediction, Gene Hansen. Special music included vocal duet, Connie Budge and Lana Esplin; vocal solo, Eldon Corbridge, and piano medley, Lynda Swenson. Prelude and postlude music was played by Carol Semrad and the accompanist was Myra Jean John.

Dedicatory prayer at Malad City Cemetery was offered by Jay Swenson.

Granddaughters and members of Third Ward Relief Society, Ida Smith, president, carried flowers.

Casket bearers were Eldon Bailey, David Lusk, Ralph Lusk, Duane Christensen, Larry Christensen, Darrell Christensen, Lynn Christensen and Brent Bowen.

Benson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
