Todd R Jones was born on September 14, 1951, in Malad, Idaho to Ives Evan Jones and Nina Marie Heckli Jones. He had an idyllic childhood growing up in Malad. He had an older sister, Teresa and a younger sister, Diane.
When he was 10 his family moved to Las Vegas. Nevada for a year before returning to Idaho and settling in Caldwell. He graduated from high school in 1969 and headed off to The United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. He graduated in 1973 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. He received a Masters degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton Ohio. Todd retired in 1993 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
In 1976 he met and married the love of his life, Jeanine Hagler, in the Washington DC temple. His career took his family to several states in the United States and twice to Germany. Upon retirement from the Army he accepted a position at Sandia National Laboratory in Albuquerque, NM. He worked there for 21 years retiring as a second level manager overseeing the budget for research and development of nuclear weapons.
Throughout his life he served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a firm testimony and loved his Savior, Jesus Christ. Todd and Jeanine served a mission in the Nauvoo Temple which was a wonderful experience for both of them. One of his greatest joys was working in the temple. During the last years of his life, he served as a sealer in the Albuquerque NM temple and later in the Gilbert Arizona temple.
Of all the things he did in his life, the thing that brought him the greatest joy was his family. He and Jeanine had three children – Jennifer, Gregory and Derek. His children blessed him with additional children when they married and he truly loved their spouses, Nick, Jamie and Molly. Six grandchildren were the crowning glory and he took great delight in their lives
He is survived by his wife, Jeanine Jones of Mesa, AZ, daughter Jennifer (Nick) Kimball and children, Brooklyn, Taylor and Ava of Mesa , AZ,, son Gregory (Jamie) Jones and son. Aiden of Minneapolis, MN, and son Derek Jones (Molly) and children Landon and Elsa of Arlington, VA.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 19th at 11:00 MST at Horsley Funeral Home in Malad, Idaho. Burial will follow at the Malad City Cemetery.
