CAR ACCIDENT TAKES LIFE OF TIM TOLAND

Timothy James Toland, age 20, died at 11:45 p.m. March 22, 1968 in the Oneida Hospital about an hour after the car he was driving rolled over several times when it failed to negotiate the curve about two miles north of Malad City limits on the old US Highway 191.

Tim was born here November 19, 1947 to Clarence and Ardith Colton Toland. He was graduated from Malad High School in 1966, attended Idaho State University, Pocatello, and was working in his father’s service station at the time of his death. He is survived by his parents, a sister, Mrs. Niah (Christine) Davis; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Colton, Malad.

Bishop Lon W. Corbridge conducted the funeral services at the Malad Third Ward LDS Chapel. Family prayer was offered by Thomas Colton. The invocation was offered by Berthel Crowther and the benediction by Ren Ray Bowen. Speakers were Charlene Corbridge, who read a poem, LaMar Thomas and Melvin Joe Davis. June Crowther and Norma Gleed sang a vocal duet; Jenkin L. Palmer and Rolene Jones presented solos. The obituary was read by Bishop Corbridge. Accompanists were Elsie Hubbard and Myra Jean John, who also played the prelude and postlude music.

Raiford G. Benson offered the dedicatory prayer at the Malad City Cemetery. Flowers were carried by classmates and cousins, directed by Malad Third Ward Relief Society, Reba Henrie, president. Casket bearers were Gary Allen, Lloyd Briggs, John Bowen, Tom Colton, John C. Hill, Dean Hughes, Ed Jones and Sherman Vaughan. Classmates and friends acted as honorary bearers.

Benson Funeral Home directed the burial.
