Funeral Held Today For Thomas Powell

Funeral services are being held today for Thomas Powell, 51, who died at Ruth, Nev., Sunday [September 15, 1946] from a heart attack. Funeral services were held there Monday. Mr. Powell was a former Malad resident being the son of Charles and Elizabeth Powell. He was born in Alliance, Ohio, April 1, 1889 and came to Oneida county with his parents, in 1906 making their home in Cherry Creek.

He was married in 1915 to Katherine Morse of Samaria and they became the parents of four children. In 1922 the Powells moved to Ogden where he was employed and made their home there until 1938 when they moved to Ruth, Nev.

Surviving are his widow, one son, Thomas Charles Powell, and three daughters: Mrs. Beth Hunter of Los Angeles, and Miss Isabel and Miss Katherine Powell of Ruth, Nev. One sister, Mrs. John W. Clark also survive. Both of Mr. Powell’s parents died within the past eighteen months.

Funeral Rites Held For Thomas Powell

Funeral services for Thomas Powell of Ruth, Nevada, were held in the stake L. D. S. tabernacle Thursday with Bishop Leo Williams of Cherry Creek presiding. Musical numbers were given by Mrs. Margaret E. Jones and Stillman Harris accompanied by Mrs. Marteal Hendricks. Talks were given by President S. A. Hendricks of Malad, Bishop Williams and Bishop J. M. Isaacson of Pleasant View. The invocation was offered by Joseph Facer and the benediction by H. M. Williams.

Burial was in the Malad cemetery with J. Guy Benson dedicating the grave.
