THOMAS H. TIMS, 60, DIES SATURDAY
Thomas Hyrum Tims, age 60, died Saturday, June 26, 1976 in a car-truck accident near Plymouth, Utah.
Mr. Tims was born April 23, 1916 in Portage, Utah, a son of Thomas Charles and Sara Jane Ashton Tims. He married Edna Williams in 1943; later divorced. He married Marguerite Jensen Dec. 30, 1969 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.
Mr. Tims was a graduate of Malad High School in 1934; was an active member of the LDS Church and at the time of his death he was a counselor in the Elder’s quorum, a Sunday School teacher and Sunday School counselor.
Survivors include his widow, Malad; six sons and four daughters: Jim Thomas Tims, Roger Tims, John K. Halladay, all Malad; Ronald Lynn Halladay, Los Angeles; Harold Ray Halliday, Creed, CO; Dan D. Halladay, Lyman, WY; Mrs. Carlos (Sharon) Dugan, Chino, CA; Mrs. Anthony (Charlene) Daro, Buena Park, CA; Mrs. Joseph (Barbara) Giordano, Anaheim, CA; Mrs. Samuel (Rhoana) King, Jr., Colorado Springs, CO; and twenty grandchildren.
Uncles and aunt who raised him after his mother died are Harvey Ashton, Ogden, UT; Warren Ashton and Mrs. Nancy Archibald, Malad.
Services for Mr. Tims were held June 30th in the cherry Creek LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Donald S. Vaughan officiating.
The family prayer was given by Richard Winkler, Gerald Yearsley delivered the invocation. The obituary was given by Harvey Ashton.
Speakers were Dean Abplanalp and Bishop Cordell Williams. Remarks were given by Bishop Donald S. Vaughan. The benediction was delivered by Leland Jones.
A vocal quartet performed two musical selections. The quartet consted of Elma Bell, Fern Hall, Douglas Gibbs and Wynn John. Prelude and postlude music was by Ruth Anne LeFevre and Lori Harris.
Concluding rites were held at the Portage, Utah Cemetery where John Starks offered the dedicatory prayer. Flowers were under the direction of the Cherry Creek Relief Society, Alta Moon, president.
Honorary bearers were Dale Kemp, Thomas Kemp, Oral Kemp, Wayne Archibald, Tims Archibald, Elden Archibald, Blaine Tims, Paul Greenhalgh and Rex Callister.
Military rites were performed by the American Legion, Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65.
Casket bearers were Jim Tims, Roger Tims, Ronald Halladay, Ray Halliday, John Halladay, Dan Halladay, Alonzo Kemp and james V. Jensen.
Funeral arrangements were by the Benson Funeral Home.
