Thomas H. Williams passed away on August 19, 2017, at home in Redding, California at the age of 75. Tom was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 31,1941 to Leslie Glen and Marie Rassmussen Williams.
Tom spent his early years living in Utah, Washington, Oregon and California. His mother died when he was nine and he and his father, Glen, moved to Malad, Idaho in 1955. His father and Uncle Wendell H. Williams owned the Wheel Inn until about 1972, when they retired and the business was sold.
He graduated from Malad High School (1959), Utah State University (1963), and post-graduate school at the University of Minnesota (1968). He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 in the Finance Corps. He worked for the Pillsbury Co. in Utah, Minnesota, Missouri and Illinois. However, most of his career was spent in the ocean shipping industry where he held a variety of senior executive positions and served as a director of several corporations.
He and his wife Margaret traveled extensively and lived in most major port cities coast to coast. During his last job assignment they resided in Singapore for three years, retired at the end of 1992 and established their home in Salem, Utah. They lived there until June 2001 and spent those years raising cattle, riding “Four Wheelers” and enjoying other leisure activities with each other and their friends. They moved to Redding in July 2001 and have been active in the local community since that time.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, of 42 years; brother, Kenneth G. Williams of Eagle Point, Oregon; sister, Joan M. Terry, of Salem, Utah; brother-in-law, Gary Hink (Lorna); sister-in-law, Virginia Christenson (Dave). He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Robert Hink.
Interment will be at the Malad City Cemetery at a later date.
