Theodore Fosberg

On January 14, 2009, one of the world’s best fishermen passed away in Dolores, Colorado. Ted was born March 3, 1924 in Malad, Idaho to Theodore and Ida (Ripley) Forsberg.
Ted was married to Isabel Amos in 1948 and they became the parents of two daughters, Diane and Karen.
Ted had a love of the outdoors and spent many hours in the hills and rivers of the West with his friends and family. His fishing skills earned him numerous awards at various fishing derby’s he entered. From an early age, Ted loved to build model airplanes, a skill he took into his later life where he excelled in building and flying radio-controlled aircraft.
In 1942 Ted was drafted into the Army and served four years as an Artillery Instructor at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. During his time in the Army, Ted was privileged to attend the funeral of Franklin D. Roosevelt where he commanded an artillery battery involved in firing the twenty-one gun salute for the President.
Ted was employed at Hill Air Force Base for most of his adult life, retiring after 30 years of service.
Ted is survived by his two daughter, Diane Jackson and Karen Lange; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Roger (Francie) Forsberg of Pleasant View, Utah; and his good friend, Robert Dabling of Farr West, Utah.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife (02/94), parents and sister, Mary Lou Howden of Portland, Oregon.
A memorial service will be held in Dolores, Colorado, to be followed by a ceremony to scatter Ted’s ashes in the Delores River where he spent so many wonderful hours fishing.
