Thayne Lyle Waldron, (1931)

Thayne Lyle Waldron
October 27, 1931 – September 6, 2022

Thayne Lyle Waldron was born in Malad, Idaho on October 27, 1931 to Hannah Griffiths Waldron and Thomas John Waldron. He is the last survivor of their 6 children. He passed away on September 6, 2022 at age 90. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane Waldron who he married on October 25, 1950, his five children, Sondra Anderson, Susan Smith, Thayne James Waldron, Brad Waldron and Ann Marie Bowen. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Thayne was a hard worker from a young age, taking care of the family farm and properties with his brothers in Samaria, and “Ten Mile” Idaho. He left Malad in 1954 for California to pursue an education. He worked long hours at his jobs and in college to support his growing family and ultimately earned his degree, graduating from San Jose State University in accounting with honors. He retired at age 55 from the City of San Jose, Finance Department. He loved hard work even in his retirement. He built at least 3 houses from the ground up, two while still working for the City and one more in his retirement. He had a flare for stories of his childhood and loved to talk about his many adventures. He loved to exercise, ride his bike, and jog. He ran multiple marathons in his lifetime, the last one at age 67. He loved to fish and was very active throughout most of his life. His children are grateful for the life lessons, work ethic, sense of humor, love and support he leaves to them and their families. The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the compassionate staff of A Plus Healthcare at Home, Spring Gardens of Lindon, Utah and The Seville of Orem, Utah. Services will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W 300 N. Malad, Idaho 83252. Public viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Services for the celebration of Thayne’s life will begin at 12:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at the Samaria Cemetery for those who wish to attend.
