T. E. Ray, Malad Attorney, Dies Wednesday at 76

T. E. Ray, 76, Malad attorney since 1910, died early Wednesday morning [October 5, 1955] at his home here after an illness of several months.

Funeral services, will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 8, in the Malad LDS Second ward chapel. Burial will be in the St. John cemetery. Friends may call at the Benson Funeral Home Friday evening and Saturday until time of services.

Mr. Ray was born July 18, 1879 at Bedford, Indiana, a son of Thomas T. and Susan E. Kerns Ray. Following graduation from the Normal College of Mitchell, Indiana in 1896, he was employed as an agent with the Monon Railroad Co. in Indiana. In 1906 he moved to Malad and worked for the Oregon Short Line Railroad. He then entered the University of Michigan and was graduated with a law degree in 1910. He returned to Malad and has engaged in law practice here since then. In 1912, Mr. Ray was first elected to the office of county attorney and served several terms. He was also city attorney for a number of years. Mr. Ray was a member of the Masonic order.

In May, 1920, he was married to Eva Hansen Stephens, at Malad. Surviving are his widow, Malad; three daughters, Miss Lucille Stephens, Hanford, Calif.; Mrs. Edward L. (Jessie) Scott, Malad; Mrs. Farrell (Gloria) Jones, Pocatello; four grandchildren and five brothers; Jesse Ray, Bloomington, Indiana; Dr. C. N. Ray, Salt Lake City; Dr. D. C. Ray, Dr. F. M. Ray, Pocatello; Frank Ray, Bedford, Indiana.
