Sue Jones Conley

It is with great sadness that the family of Sue Jones Conley announces her passing on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at the age of 80 years.
Sue will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Terry, and her children Terry, Julie (Steve) Pata, Jill and Jennifer. She will also be fondly remembered by her four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and extended family members and dear friends.
Born in Malad City, Idaho, on Jan. 14, 1938, to Hyrum “Earl” Jones and Hazel Clark Jones, Sue married Terry Thomas Conley on June 1, 1956. While raising four children, Sue attended Boise State University, graduating magna cum laude in 1969 with a degree in elementary education. She taught at Maple Grove Elementary in Boise.
Between 1975 and 1982, Sue taught at Irwin and Colorow Elementary Schools before earning a master’s degree in library sciences at CU-Denver in 1982. She went on to serve as the first children’s library media specialist at Stony Creek Elementary, developing the school’s library from the ground up. She retired in 1995.
Sue was a volunteer for the Junior Symphony Guild in Denver, a member of the Red Rocks County Club and was active in her political party. She enjoyed reading to her grandchildren, playing the piano, golfing and playing bridge.
A memorial service in honor of Sue will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Horan McConaty Funeral Home, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood. Service flowers will be delivered to residents at the Bear Creek Nursing Home in Morrison later that day.
