Steven H Miller

Steven H Miller of Salem, Utah passed away suddenly at his home on Jan.16, 2015.

He was born on Nov.2, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Herman Miller Jr. and Christina Miller. He graduated from Malad High School and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from BYU. He served a mission to Germany and later in life, served a mission at the family history center.

He married the love of his life, Phyllis Emmett on February 14, 1974 in the Logan Utah Temple. Steve ran the jewelry store in Tremonton, Utah for several years before taking a job at Thiokol as a chemical engineer and was later employed at Trojan Explosives.

Steve has held many church callings: scouts, which he is well known for, counselor in the bishopric, and working with the young men. He loved scouts and how it prepared young men for life. He continued as a merit badge counselor to always stay connected.

Steve loved to spend time with his family, whether it was sports, fishing, vacations, or yearly camping trips to Marsh Lake in the Uintahs. He was always up for an adventure if it involved nature.

Steve always looked out for those around him and made sure everyone was taken care of. He was always quick to serve and loved doing so. He was an amazing example of Christ-like love. He will be missed but his legacy will always be cherished.

Surviving is his beloved wife, Phyllis; children: Bryce (Janita) Miller, Laurie (Jason) Huggins, Benjamin (Janelle) Miller, Derek (Angela) Miller, Melissa (Morgan) Jones, and Leslie (Joseph) Mower; 18 grandchildren and his siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Peter Miller and granddaughter, London Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Salem 1st Ward Chapel, 60 South Main Street, Salem, Utah. Friends may call at the church on Monday, January 19, from 6-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9-10:15 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Salem City Cemetery, Salem, Utah.
