Steven E. Jones, 13 January 1930

Steven E. Jones, beloved husband of Sharon Lee Jones, passed away on November 30, 2003 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 13, 1930 at Cherry Creek, ID to Hyrum John and Ruby Elizabeth Aschelman Jones.

On January 19, 1948 he enlisted in the US Air Force. He served his country for 48 months, spending most of his time in Germany. He held the rank of Sergeant and was given an honorable discharge on January 18, 1952.

He worked for a short time on the railroad and also for the Forest Service. He then went to work for the Federal Aviation Adm. As an electronic technician. He retired on May 18, 1985.

After he retired from the FAA, he went to work for the Oneida County Sheriff’s Dept. as a dispatcher, after which he drove bus for the Oneida School District for ten years.

On September 11, 1959 he married his sweetheart and true love, Sharon in the Logan LDS Temple. He cherished her for 44 wonderful years. They became parents of seven children.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many offices and callings. He was a kind and honest man and an example to others. He had many talents in woodworking, needlepoint, cooking and repairs.

He is survived in this life by his wife, Sharon; three sons: Steven Jones, Malad; Lamonte (Nicki) Jones, Wellsville, UT; Lance Jones, Logan, UT; four daughters: Sherry (Ed) Abplanalp, Tremonton, UT; Mary (Rob) Tingey, Logan, UT; Collelen Ashton, Brigham City, UT; Wendy (Brad) Lemke, Syracuse, UT; 17 grandchildren who he loved and adored; five brothers: Don (Dureen) Jones, Pocatello; Evan (Pat) Jones, Malad; Robert (Mardella) Jones, Clarkston, UT; Montie (India) Jones, California; Billy K. (Sherrie) Jones, Draper, UT; one sister: Margie (Doyle) Lowry, McCammon, ID; one sister-in-law, Iris Jones, Cherry Creek, ID.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and seven brothers.
