Steven Bryan Jones’s Obituary
Bryan Jones, 39, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2026, in Gainesville, Florida.
Bryan was born on January 5, 1987, in Logan, Utah, to Steven Jones and Mitzi Evans. He was the first born of four children. He was born 4 weeks early, premature, and wasn’t expected to live, but was a fighter from the start, defying all odds as he truly had a purpose in this life. As a young boy, Bryan was mischievous, adventurous, very inquisitive, and gave his parents a run for their money.
As the oldest, he was the ringleader of countless schemes, always bringing his two brothers along for the ride. However, having a sister was a different story. Bryan loved Kristen and was fiercely protective over her.
Bryan was raised in Logan, Utah until he turned 11 years old, when his family moved to Malad, Idaho. His work ethic developed at a young age when he started mowing lawns at eight years old, waited tables at Me N’ Lou’s, and then worked at the local grocery store, Thomas Market, throughout high school. His most cherished memory from Malad High School was playing the position of tackle on the football team. He was one of the few talented freshmen selected to play on the varsity team.
Upon graduation from Malad High School in 2005, Bryan attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. He then served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Edmonton, Alberta, Canada mission. Upon returning home, Bryan returned to ISU to pursue a degree in the field of medicine.
While attending college, he supported himself by working at the local grocery store, Thomas Market. In January 2009, a new cashier, Tori Hill, was hired and immediately caught Bryan’s eye. The rest of their Thomas Market romance is history. Bryan married his sweetheart, Tori, for time and all eternity on March 20, 2010, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.
Bryan and Tori continued their education and supported each other along the way. Bryan ultimately decided to pursue a Nursing degree, and thrived in nursing school, serving as Class President. Despite his demanding education, his greatest joy came with the birth of their first daughter, Brynlee, in 2011. He was the proudest dad. After graduating Nursing school in December of 2012, he worked as a Critical Care Nurse at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot, Idaho. It was important to Bryan that Tori finished her degree, and he was her biggest cheerleader, supporting her through the demands of school and motherhood.
On December 24, 2013, Bryan and Tori welcomed their second daughter, Ellie, giving him the ultimate Christmas gift that kept on giving. She was always his “Christmas baby”.
Bryan was a natural healer and an incredible nurse. Through his nursing career, he discovered the profound fulfillment that comes from helping people at their most vulnerable moments. After moving to Pennsylvania, they welcomed their third daughter, Addilyn, also known as Addi. After three girls, Bryan decided the only way he was going to pay for all their weddings was to go to medical school. It had long been his goal to expand his medical knowledge and clinical skills, becoming the best provider, he could be.
Bryan started medical school at the University of Washington, as part of the Idaho cohort, in August of 2020. The night of his white coat ceremony, they welcomed their fourth daughter, Gracelyn or Gracie. At that point, Bryan had become the ultimate girl dad. He enjoyed medical school and mastered the balance of family and school, always putting family first. During this time, he mastered the art of grilling and cooked for his family whenever he had the chance.
After earning his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, Bryan was honored to match as an anesthesiology resident at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. He was instantly beloved by his colleagues and mentors, earning respect for his humility, compassion, and exceptional skills in the patient care setting.
Bryan and his family loved being a part of the University of Florida community and instantly became Gator fans. One of the best days of his life was learning he was having a baby boy, and soon he wouldn’t be “The Last Man Standing”.
He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had an unshakable testimony of the Plan of Salvation and the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. He loved the Gospel and his family with all his heart. Family meant absolutely everything to him. Throughout his life, he held multiple callings, including Elder’s Quorum President, Ward Secretary, and Sunday School teacher.
Some of Bryan’s hobbies included hunting, riding his motorcycle, grilling, shooting his guns, playing his guitar, and solving complex Rubik’s cubes, but the thing he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his family, as every night was family night.
Bryan was admired as a gifted speaker. He touched the lives of those around him through his quiet, selfless acts of service. He enjoyed studying the scriptures and teaching his children about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He wanted to make a difference in the lives of the people around him—and he did. Truly, he was the most amazing husband and father.
He is survived by his loving wife, Toralyn (Tori), his four daughters, Brynlee, Ellie, Addilyn, Gracelyn, and soon-to-be-born son, Bryson, of Gainesville, Florida, his dad, Steve Jones of Malad, Idaho, his siblings, Brett (Mataya) of Draper, Utah, Jared of Bluffsdale, UT, and Kristen (William) of Roosevelt, UT, his grandparents, Sharon Lee Jones of Malad, Idaho, Paul & Darlene Evans, of Malad, Idaho. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mitzi Evans, and his grandfather Stephen Jones.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7th at 12 noon at the Malad LDS Stake Center. Viewings will be held Monday, April 6 from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m MT at the Malad Stake Center and prior to the service from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. MT.
