Silas Anderson Dies Thurs

Funeral services for Silas Lake Anderson 78, who died Thursday, 13 August 1959, at his home in Malad of a heart ailment were held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Samaria Ward Chapel with Bishop Carl A. Evans in charge.

The prayer at the home was by Daniel M. Price.

Jessie John played the prelude and postlude music. The invocation was by Joseph E. Williams and the benediction by D. Dredge Thomas, solos were sung by Helen E. Jones, Leora Brown and Louis Yearsley. The speakers were Bishop Evans, Bishop Orville H. Tolman and Robert Waldron.

Flowers were carried by members of the Samaria and Malad First Ward Relief Societies.

Casket bearers were Joel Dean Williams, Dan Davis, Joseph A. Davis, Kenneth Anderson, Willard Anderson, William E. Anderson.

Burial was in the Samaria Cemetery. The dedicatory prayer was by Raiford G. Benson.

Mr. Anderson was born March 6, 1881, in Wanship, Utah, a son of Archibald King and Hannah Acomb Anderson. He was reared in Wanship and came to Malad Valley in 1901.

He married Mary Price, April 29, 1907. They received endowments in the Logan Temple, Oct. 14, 1927.

Their only child, Mary Valvis died in 1925 at age 16.

He was a farmer in Samaria until December 1958, when he came to Malad. He had been superintendent of the Samaria LDS Ward Sunday School, president of the YMMIA, Boy Scout executive, ward teacher and member of the bishopric.

Surviving is his widow, Malad.
