Shirley Nielsen 77 passed away Feb 7, 2013, at her home in Preston Idaho after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born Dec. 23, 1935, in Trenton, Utah to Ray and Gwen Winn. She was the third of five children.
Shirley married Sherwin (Cowboy) Nielsen March 26, 1951, in Ogden, Utah. Sherwin passed away Nov. 14, 2008. She is also preceded in death by her parents and a brother Ray Dean (infant). She is survived by two brothers and one sister, Art (Judy) Winn, Fairview Id. Faye (Rex deceased) Goodwin, Lewiston Utah, Rex (Annette) Winn Rigby Id.
Shirley had a strong work ethic, a love for animals especially her horses. She loved being outdoors and much preferred the corral to the kitchen. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving when she would cook dinner for the Nielsen family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Services will be Monday, Feb 11, 2013, at 12:00 noon, a viewing prior to the services will from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 at the Fairview 2nd Ward, 165 W. 4800 South Fairview, Idaho. A special thanks to her kind and gentle caregivers Thelma, Marie & Lauren of Access Hospice. She expressed many times her great appreciation for all that her neighbors and friends did for her. She said she didn’t believe there could be a better place to be for this to happen to her than right where she was with her good neighbors and friends. Shirley says, “How will I ever repay you?”.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 11 at 12 noon in the Fairview LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 165 W. 4800 S. Friends may visit with the family from 11:30-12 noon at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Preston Cemetery.
