Funeral Rites For Sam W. Price

Funeral services for Samuel Willard Price, 80, who died Thursday [August 11, 1949] evening at him home of a heart attack, were held in the Malad L.D.S. tabernacle at 2 p.m. Monday with Bishop Golden Willie presiding.

The prayer at the home was offered by Josiah Price and the invocation by Edward N. Crowther; benediction, LaVen Williams and dedication of the grave by Guy Benson. Emma S. Ward played the prelude and postlude. The musical numbers consisted of a vocal solo, Jenkin Palmer; vocal trio, Tovey sisters; violin solo, Mrs. A. G. Willie, and vocal solo, J. Guy Gleed. The seakers[speakers] were James B. Jones, W. W. Thomas and Dr. O. H. Mabey. The obituary and remarks were given by Bishop Willie.

Mr. Price was born at Malad, March 9, 1869, a son of John and Susanna Thomas Price. He was married to Matilda Gleed Williams February 4, 1892 at Malad. Eight children, seven of whom survive, were born to them. Mr. Price, a member of the L.D.S. church, was engaged in freighting from Corinne, Utah to Montana for many years and later operated a sawmill in Malad valley. More recently, he operated a service station in Malad and retired two years ago. He was active until the day of his death.

He is survived by his wife, seven sons and daughters, Mrs. Annie Daniels, John L. Price, Loren Price, all of Malad; Dr. Willard S. Price, Greenwich, Conn.; Mrs. Mary Peterson, Logan; Thain Price, Baker, Oregon; Mrs. Fawn Bealer, Empire, Oregon; one stepson, Edward G. Williams, Malad; 31 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; two brothers, Brig T. Price, Twin Falls, and Ben Price, Pocatello.

The oldest daughter, Susanna Price Peck, died Dec. 22, 1932. Mrs. Tillie Williams Hanson, a step-daughter, died Nov. 1, 1929.
