FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR SAM D. JONES (14 Dec. 1929)
Funeral services for Sam D. Jones, who died here last week, were large and impressive. Friends and relatives who came out to pay their last earthly respects to the deceased were many. A profusion of beautiful flowers completely covered the bier and casket.

The speakers at the services were; D.P. Woodland, R.N. Hill and Dr. Thos. W Richards. Bishop H.J. Hanson presided. Appropriate music was furnished by the Malad Male Chorus, Ev. Harris, Thos, R Williams, R. B. Davis, Guy Benson, H.J. Hanson, D.J. Reynolds, and A.R. Castleton; and Stillman Harris and Kate Jones and Merl Reynolds. Benediction was offered by J. P. Harrison. The grave was dedicated by J. Peter Jensen, interment being made at the local cemetery.

The passing of Sam D. Jones at his home, four miles west of Malad, December 9, marks the close of another career that was inspiring, His life being one that teemed with golden deeds and true friendship. He was born at St. John, May 7, 1882. He has lived in this valley all his life. He lived with his brother and widowed mother at Dairy Creek at the time the Indians were occupying the land there. His parents, Ephriam Jones and Phoebe Davis Jones, proceed him in death many years. He was raised by his brother, Eph, of St. John. He has no living children.
