Ruth Wiggill Rouland

DOWNEY – Ruth Wiggill Rouland, 77, of Downey, passed away Monday morning, September 7, 1998, at her home following an extended illness.
She was born June 19, 1921, in Lay-ton, Utah, a daughter of Eli Francis and Louie Evelyn Bybee Wiggill. She attended schools in Davis County and attended Davis High School.
On September 11, 1938, she married Garfield LeRoy “Bill” Roach in Salt Lake City. This marriage ended in divorce. She married Howard Rouland November 28, 1951, in Salt Lake City, and they later divorced.
Ruth was raised on a farm and enjoyed the life of farm work. She also did crocheting and made feather dolls.
She lived in California for several years, where she and her husband traveled selling ladies’ lingerie for 14 years.
She enjoyed music and sang with a big band in California following World War II. She greatly enjoyed having her family around her.
Survivors include two daughters, Diana R. (Russell) Linderman, Layton, Utah, and Jaylene R. (Lee) Biggs, Downey, Idaho; a brother, Derrah B. Wiggill, Layton, Utah; a daughter-in-law, whose husband passed away last year, Sandra B. Roach, West Jordan, Utah; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, five sisters, a son, G.W. Roach, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 12, 1998, at noon at the Downey LDS Chapel, with Bishop LaVern W. Brim of the Downey First Ward officiating. Interment will be in the Downey Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Manning-Wheat-ley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave., Pocatello.
