Ruth Edith Thomas Ripley

Magna-On September 26, 1998, Ruth was reunited with her family and longtime friends. She was born March 4, 1905, to Fredrick William and Mary Ellen Jones Thomas, In Malad, Idaho.
Ruth married her sweetheart, William Clarence Ripley on August 29, 1934. They later solemnized their union on September
19, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Ruth was always on the go, which showed in all of her accomplishments. She was very proud of the fact that she began her teaching career over 75 years ago in a one-room schoolhouse near Holbrook, Idaho. She retired from teaching at Webster School in 1970. Ruth was very active in all of the church auxiliaries and was a Daughter of Utah Pioneers.
She was an avid gardener growing flowers and vegetables. Fall was the time of year she made her chili sauce, apple pie, fried chicken and delicious chokecherry jelly. These were usually family projects. She enjoyed crocheting, making special items for the family.
Ruth is survived by her son Garth (Carrolyn) Ripley and daughter Claren Gay (Ron) Pendleton; grandchildren, Sundee (Ron) Ware, Chante (Ned) Seigfried, Julie (Eddie) Iorg, Rip Ripley, Matthew (Stacie) Ripley, Jared (Debi) Pendleton, Peggy Lee (Chris) Tuttle, and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; granddaughter, Josiann Pendleton; sister, Mary Ellen Peterson; and two brothers, Victor J. and Freddie W. Thomas.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 1, at 11:00 a.m. at the Magna Stake Center, 3084 South 8400 West. Friends may call from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery.
