Ruth Bastian Tingey

WESTON, Idaho – Ruth Bastian Tingey, 86, died Aug. 28, 2001, at the Franklin County Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was born Dec. 6, 1914, in Mendon, Utah, to Niels S. and Ethel Sullivan Bastian. She married Warren Maurice Tingey on Dec. 10, 1935, in the Logan LDS Temple.
She attended two years at Utah State Agricultural College in Logan and received a teacher’s certificate. She was an active member of the LDS Church and worked in all of the auxiliaries, also stake MIA and in the primary stake presidency. She worked with the Senior Citizens on the board and as a volunteer for 12 years. She and Maurice also were temple officiators for 12 years.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, and other handicrafts. She has crocheted afghans for all her children, grandchildren and friends.
She is survived by children and spouses, Mark and Nancy Tingey, Rexburg, Idaho; Karen and Clynn Phillips, Laramie, Wyoming; Geniel and Paul Siggard, Loveland, Colorado; Kent and Linda Tingey, Plain City, Utah; Angela and Lawrence Weeks, Preston, Idaho; Ruthann and Tom Gilbert, Ogden, Utah; and Shannan and Keith Olson, Weston, Idaho; thirty-eight grandchildren, seventy-four great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Merlin Bastian of Malad, Idaho, and Delos Bastian of Weston, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice, by a son, Gilbert, her parents, and brothers, Eldon, Rolen and Dale.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, in the Weston First Ward Chapel with Bishop Glade Schvaneveldt conducting. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Webb Funeral Home and from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Weston Cemetery.
