BLACKFOOT _ Ruth Baldwin Evans, 70 of Blackfoot, passed away Friday, July 23, 2010 at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
She was born July 19, 1940 in Pocatello, Idaho to Frank Reed and Lila Vinette Lemmon Baldwin. She was the second of seven children. She was raised and attended school in the Snake River area, graduating from Snake River High School in 1958.
On June 8, 1962, she married Thomas LuDell Evans in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple. They made their home in Blackfoot where they have lived since.
Being an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ was an important part of her life. She served faithfully in various callings, in Primary, Young Women’s Relief Society and as a Bishop’s wife. She had a strong testimony and loved the gospel.
Ruth devoted her time and talents to being a wife, mother and homemaker. She loved spending time with, and doing things for and with her family.
She enjoyed camping, scrapbooking, gardening, tole painting and especially loved being a grandma.
Ruth is survived by her husband, LuDell, of Blackfoot, her children, Sheri (Howard) Harper of Idaho Falls; Mark (Liza) Evans of Blackfoot; Michael D. Evans of Driggs and Stephanie (Matthew) Shutes of Inkom; her mother, Lila Baldwin of Rockford, sisters, Serene (Max Watt, of Rockford, Marilyn (B0b Kesler of Blackfoot and Joan (Blaine) Dance of Happy Valley, Nev; brothers, Paul Baldwin of Rockford; Steve (Pat) Baldwin, both of Utah and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father a granddaughter, Mia Shutes.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Blackfoot South LDS Stake Center. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010 at Hawker Funeral Home and again for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
