DOWNEY — Russell James Hyde, 71, of Downey, died Aug. 7, 1992, in Salt Lake City, Utah, from an apparent heart attack.

He was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Downey, the son of John S. and Carrie Hyde. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II from September 1942 until November of 1945. He owned and operated the Downey Theater, and he had worked for the Downey State Bank from 1946, retiring as vice president and cashier in January 1983.

He married Joylene Parris Dec. 10, 1949, in Pocatello, Idaho.
He is survived by his wife, of Downey; two sons, Rodney, of Boise, and John, of Downey; two daughters, Brenda Landon of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Jana Wilson of Pocatello; one brother, J. Milton Hyde, Downey; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking care of his yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a son-in-law.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at noon in the Downey LDS Ward Chapel, Bishop Gary D. Barnes officiating. Friends may call at the Marsh Valley Funeral Home in Arimo this evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday at the church for one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Downey City Cemetery, with military rites accorded by the Downey American Legion Post No. 21.
