A family graveside service was recently held at the Malad City Cemetery for Ross Anthony Kelly and his wife, Pearl Beatrice Price Kelly.
Ross was born on April 26, 1909 in Brigham City, Utah, the son of Walter and Adell Jenson Kelly. He was the last survivor of four brothers.
Pearl was born on September 10, 1910 in Malad. She was the eldest of 12 children born to Josiah and Beatrice Jones Price, two of whom survive her, Marion Price and Shirley Fry.
Having moved to San Antonio, Texas, Ross died on April 12, 2004 and Pearl passed away on January 14, 2009. When they married in 1936, Ross and Pearl were elementary school teachers, and Ross was to become a principal. He returned to obtain advanced degrees at the University of Illinois where he joined the faculty. Pearl completed her degree and continued teaching.
They were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were instrumental in its growth in Illinois. Ross was District President and Stake President for 22 consecutive years, and Pearl served in Relief Society leadership. They were also temple workers in the Washington D.C. Temple.
They enjoyed traveling worldwide and visiting friends and family. Pearl’s giving friendship was especially treasured by many, and their love and support will be remembered.
They are survived by three children: Paul Kelly, Carolyn Christensen, and Nancy Morgan; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
