Rollin Jess Showell

Rollin Jess Showell, Stone, ID, 87, was born on June 12, 1928, in Provo, Ut to Rollin and Effie Young Showell. He passed away on September 21, 2015, in the Neil J. Redfield Hospital in Malad, ID. Jess is survived by his wife Marilyn Harris Showell, His son David (Patricia) Showell of Stone, ID, his daughters LuAnn (Nolan) Branch of Malta, ID, and Carilyn (Tony) Gillies of Lyman, WY a son-in-law Rodney (Annette) Johnson of Paradise, Ut, a sister Jeanine (Elder Warren Eugene) Hansen of Salt Lake City, Ut and a brother Sid (Sharon) Showell of Stone, ID. Jess has 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ralph and a brother Steve Showell a son Mark Showell and a daughter Karla Showell Johnson and a great-grandaughter Maycie Schwartz. Jess attended elementary school in Stone, ID, high school at Bear River High School in Tremonton, Ut, and Utah State University. He married Marilyn Harris on June 30th of 1952. He was blessed with 5 children. Jess was a farmer and a rancher and worked hard to provide for his family. Jess was a good horseman and enjoyed working with his neighbors caring for the cattle. He enjoyed people and was a good friend. Jess had a good attitude when life became difficult for him and never gave up. He was a fine example of perseverance and courage. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 26th at 12 Noon in the Curlew LDS Ward Chapel in Snowville Utah. Friends may visit with the Showell Family on Friday evening from 7-8 pm at the Horsley Funeral Home 132 W 300 N in Malad and on Saturday at the church prior to services from 10:30 a.m to 11.45 a.m. Burial will follow in the Snowville, Utah Cemetery.
