Robert Smith Dies Of Heart Ailment

Robert Smith, 57, died suddenly at the Oneida Hospital Tuesday of a heart ailment. In the past ten days, Mr. Smith had been hospitalized 27 hours.

Mr. Smith, a resident of Malad for 27 years, was born April 5, 1899 at Mendon, Utah, a son of Robert Smith and Margaret Ella Willie Smith. He was reared and educated at Mendon, Utah and Buist, Idaho, and marred Ruth Thorpe at Malad on August 7, 1927. A member of the L. D. S. Church, Mr. Smith had engaged in farming and was employed by the Oneida County Highway Department at the time of his death.

Surviving are his wife, Malad; two sons and one daughter, Lt. Robert Cleon Smith, serving with the U. S. Air Force in Germany; Mrs. Ruth Elaine Smith Edwards, Ogden; John Thomas Smith, student at Snow College, Ephraim, Utah; two grandchildren; one brother and two sister, Ada Smith Williams, Carey, Idaho; John Claud Smith, Malad; Norma Smith Perry, Logan.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p. m. in the Malad 2nd Ward chapel with Bishop Colen Sweeten Jr. of the 4th Ward in charge. Interment will be in the Malad Cemetery under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home.
